I think his popularity will rise after he retires. Senna wasn't Mr Popular when he raced but now remembered for his amazing driving. Schumacher was similar, people couldn't stand him but now remembered for what a talent he was.

senna was one of the few reasons to watch f1 so there were fans while he was still alive. as for Hamilton, talented driver but when you can't even be bothered to do a press event for your own grand prix, it shows he's a bit strange

Probably why he wasn't bothered to turn up for that PR thing for British fans that every other driver did around Trafalgar Sq during the week.

A great driver but does sometimes seem like he's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder.Missing the event in London hasn't done him any favours either.He could take a leaf out of Ricciardo's book,always seems to be smiling and comes across as a nice bloke.
